Pengarah Sekretariat Majlis Halal Malaysia JAKIM, Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee berkata, terdapat peningkatan permohonan sekurang-kurangnya 10 peratus setiap tahun.“JAKIM melihat ini sebagai perkembangan positif dalam kalangan pemain industri kerana kita maklum bahawa ada pihak beranggapan memohon sijil halal dengan JAKIM ini susah,” katanya ditemui pada Sidang Kemuncak Halal Global 2019 di Kuala Lumpur hari ini.
Sirajuddin berkata, mulai 2016, JAKIM melaksanakan beberapa inisiatif termasuk memastikan tempoh pemprosesan permohonan yang lebih singkat dalam usaha membantu pemain industri segera memperoleh sijil halal bagi mempromosikan produk mereka dalam pasaran tempatan dan antarabangsa.“Bagaimanapun, tahun lalu kita luluskan 84.7 peratus permohonan dalam tempoh kurang 30 hari.
