KOTA KINABALU: Everyone has a right to set up their a new political party including Dr Mahathir Mohamad, says Home Minister Hamzah Zainuddin“But Dr Mahathir had mentioned a few times before this that the problem with the Malays is when they want to become president but can’t win, they set up a new party,” Hamzah said on Saturday .
He said former premier also mentioned that the other problem with the Malays is that they have too many political parties. “If having said all these and citing these as ‘problems’ of the Malays but still coming out to set up a new party, then it is his right,” he said.He said that the party which has yet to be registered will neither be part of the opposition Pakatan Harapan nor Perikatan Nasional.
“This Malay-based party will be an independent party and will uphold the initial struggle of fighting against corruption which Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia had hijacked," he said.
