BAITULMUQADDIS: Polis Israel menahan 10 penduduk Palestin ketika pertempuran di pekarangan masjid Al-Aqsa, semalam.
Menurut polis dan pasukan perubatan, sebanyak sembilan orang cedera ketika penduduk Palestin membaling batu terhadap polis yang melepaskan peluru getah ke arah mereka. Menurut seorang wartawan AFP, kira-kira 1,000 orang berkumpul di pekarangan masjid itu selepas menunaikan solat Jumaat, melaungkan ‘Allah Maha Besar’ dengan ada dalam kalangan mereka mengibarkan bendera Palestin.“Beberapa pemuda melontarkan batu terhadap anggota polis,” kata polis menerusi kenyataan dengan menambah 10 suspek telah ditahan.
Menurut Bulan Sabit Merah Palestin, sebanyak sembilan orang cedera termasuk tiga sedang menerima rawatan di hospital akibat pertempuran itu.Pertempuran itu tercetus selepas penduduk Palestin memprotes tindakan nasionalis Yahudi yang berarak melalui timur Baitulmuqqadis pada Selasa sambil melaungkan kata-kata penghinaan terhadap Islam dan ‘kematian kepada orang Arab’.
