PETALING JAYA: Police detained 96 individuals at pubs and nightclubs on Saturday (July 4) for violating the recovery movement control order (MCO), says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The Senior Minister said that in total, 165 people were detained on Saturday, including 67 others involved in activities that went against standard operating procedure during the recovery MCO.The task force conducted 61,727 checks to ensure SOP compliance at supermarkets, restaurants, hawkers, factories, banks and government offices.

Police also detained a foreigner for immigration offences, said Ismail in a press statement on Sunday . As for mandatory home quarantine for those who returned from overseas, Ismail said police conducted 803 checks, and found everyone complying to the order. Ismail added that the Construction Industry Development Board inspected 20 construction sites throughout Malaysia on Saturday, with 12 found to be complying to the SOP while another eight were not operating.Article type: free
