KUALA LUMPUR: After a record low of offenders on Friday (March 19), the number of those who violated the Covid-19 standard operating procedures climbed to 100 on Saturday (March 20).

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said compounds were issued to 97 individuals while three others were remanded.

"Failure to maintain physical distancing tops the offences list with 48 individuals penalised, followed by failure to prepare equipment to record customers' details , activities at entertainment outlets , not wearing face masks and travelling interstate/inter-district without permission ," the Defence Minister said in a statement on Sunday ."Among the locations were 4,773 supermarkets, 6,190 restaurants, 1,979 factories and 3,954 banks," he said.

On Ops Benteng, Ismail Sabri said 13 undocumented immigrants were detained while seven land vehicles were seized on Saturday.On screening foreign workers, Ismail Sabri said 3,197 foreign workers underwent Covid-19 screenings on Saturday with 12 of them testing positive."From the total number, 9,947 foreign workers tested positive while 627,332 others tested negative," he said.
