The 21-year-old men’s singles shuttler has been selected for two major tournaments – the Sudirman Cup from Sept 26-Oct 3 in Vaanta, Finland and the Thomas Cup from Oct 9-17 in Aarhus, Denmark.
For the Thomas Cup Finals, the Badminton Association of Malaysia have named five singles players – 2021 All-England champion Zii Jia, June Wei, Tze Yong, Jun Hao and Aidil and seven doubles players – Aaron-Wooi Yik, Sze Fei-Izzuddin, Wei Chong-Kai Wun and Low Hang Yee. “I’ve worked really hard for this. As a junior, I had lots to catch up and the home training due to the Covid-19 pandemic has given me the time to improve my game,” said Tze Yong.
“So, being named for this two major tournaments is a big thing for me. Zii Jia will play a bigger role in the Sudirman Cup while in the Thomas Cup, I may play as the third singles. It will be a good exposure.”
