"Normally, if an area has been taken out from a forest reserve , it can be logged," said the Perak menteri besar after opening the state-level Unity Week celebration at Dataran Bandaraya Ipoh here on Sunday .Saarani said this in response to Sahabat Alam Malaysia field officer Meor Razak Meor Abdul Rahman, who, on Thursday , questioned why the state has allowed logging activities to be held at the Segari Melintang Forest Reserve in Manjung.
Meor Razak claimed that the 50ha of land there had been classified as a protection forest, which mitigates or prevents the impacts of natural hazards such as landslides and flooding.
