Ramkarpal Singh says Dr Mahathir Mohamad is the reason the country now needs reform.
“You are why this country needs reform. And today you say you want to ‘save the country’?You’re the last person who can,” he said, admitting however, that he used to believe in the former PM. Ramkarpal was referring to the agreement by the then Pakatan Harapan presidential council – comprising leaders from PKR, DAP, Amanah and PPBM – in 2018 that Mahathir become the prime minister if the coalition won the 14th general election , and hand over the PM’s post to Anwar at the right time.
“Never mind that he didn’t bother to consult his government or cabinet,” the DAP lawmaker said, adding “He did it his way. Now, he wants to be PM again.”
