PETALING JAYA: Former minister Mohamaddin Ketapi has denied belittling security forces involved in defending the nation during the 2013 Lahad Datu intrusion, saying his remarks had been misconstrued and taken out of context.
He said he had never belittled or insulted the security forces but was highlighting the Barisan Nasional government’s failure in improving the state’s defence assets to prevent such an incident. “The video which went viral should have been played in its entirety. I vehemently condemn the dirty ploys of certain parties who clearly want to degrade Warisan’s image.
“If the issue of illegal immigrants had been the priority of the previous government, the incident in Kampung Tanduo would not have happened,” he said in a statement. Mohammadin, who is contesting the Segama state seat, also apologised to members of the security forces if the video which went viral brought hurt to them.Warisan's Segama candidate, Mohamaddin Ketapi, says his remarks on the Lahad Datu intrusion have been taken out of context.
