SEOUL, Jan 3 — South Korea’s Hyundai Motor Group said today it will accelerate a wider transition to electric vehicles this year as it aims to morph into a future mobility solutions provider, reported Yonhap.
Last year, Hyundai Motor Co’s Ioniq 5 won the 2022 World Car of the Year and Kia Corp’s EV6 was named the 2022 European Car of the Year. It marked the beginning of the group’s “successful” shift to electrification, he said. In the first half, Hyundai Motor Group said it will introduce the Level 3 Genesis G90 and the Kia EV9 autonomous driving models, while planning to commercialise the Level 4 Ioniq 5-based robo taxi services in the United States through Motional, a joint venture set up between Hyundai Motor and the US mobility startup Aptiv.
