From offering refunds to absorbing the costs of pre-event testing.

For weddings this month, Fairmont Singapore will pay the cost of pre-event testing for Covid-19, if couples want to go ahead with more than 50 people, said Kerry Healy, chief commercial officer of hotel operator Accor for South-east Asia, Japan and South Korea.

These include Grand Hyatt Singapore, which will refund those who have made full payment for a 100-person arrangement and are choosing to go ahead with their wedding with a reduced guest list of 50 instead, said Ms June Choong, the hotel's director of events. Many couples are still deciding whether they want to have more than 50 people present, as pre-event testing could be logistically complex, said the hotels and wedding venues. Some hotels are coming up with new arrangements to allow for these tests to be conducted on site.

This will be done just before the event. Guests will get the result of the test - an antigen rapid test that involves a nasal swab - within 30 minutes.
