HONG KONG, April 21 — Hong Kong reopened gyms, beauty parlours, theme parks and cinemas for the first time in more than four months today, as authorities relax some of the world’s most stringent Covid restrictions that have weighed on residents and businesses.
Residents flocked to gyms, salons and massage parlours, while others visited temples and churches which had also been shut. While many residents are relieved at the relaxation of rules, scores of businesses have already closed and tens of thousands of people have fled the city as authorities re-imposed measures in January that were first implemented in 2020.
