HONG KONG, May 11 — Hong Kong authorities arrested more than 200 people during pro-democracy protests, media reported today, after a sing-along demonstration at a shopping mall spilled out on to the streets of the Chinese-ruled city. Several media outlets, citing sources, said more than 200 people were arrested. Police said they could not confirm the number. The Hospital Authority said 18 people were taken to hospital.

Police in riot gear told protesters they were staging an illegal assembly and violating anti-virus measures that bar gatherings of more than eight people.
