A police spokesman said an initial investigation suggested the suspect banged on the door of the couple’s second-floor flat and launched his attack when they answered.

The 64-year-old man suffered a stab wound to the chest and a cut on the right elbow while his wife, 60, had a hand injury.All three were taken to Princess Margaret Hospital in Lai Chi Kok for treatment.The spokesman said the investigation showed the suspect had had a dispute over noise with the couple earlier.

Detectives from the Kwai Tsing criminal investigation unit are looking into whether the noise dispute sparked the attack.Last year, police handled 732 reports of wounding across the city, down 30 per cent from 1,049 in 2020.
