KUALA LUMPUR: Homestays have become a popular choice for KLites who will be joining the balik kampung exodus to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfiri with their families and loved ones in their hometowns after not being able to do so for two consecutive years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Most homestays are fully booked by travellers who will be leaving the federal capital, and to date, there are still people asking about vacancies in case there are last-minute cancellations.

Speaking to Bernama, Che Adham, who is also a homestay operator in Pasir Mas, said he had received bookings from April 28 to May 8 from two families from Selangor, and the bookings were made as early as last year. At the same time, he also advised the public to be more careful about homestay bookings offered on social media following rampant scammer activity, which had resulted in many people getting cheated.
