KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit opened lower against the US dollar on Thursday as the greenback remained firm while local market players await the release of Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) overnight policy rate (OPR) announcement later today, analysts said.

Hong Kong actor Simon Yam has long been opened about his love for Malaysia and once said coming here is like “returning home”.Speaking to reporters at Queensbay Mall in Bayan Lepas, the 69-year-old said he has been visiting Malaysia since the 1980s and would often stop by Penang.

The former TVB star also listed his favourite delicacies, adding that he would recommend them to his production team whenever they came to Penang for filming. “I would visit Penang every two to three years. My favourite dishes are char kway teow, laksa, oyster omelette and chicken rice,” he said.He shared that he dropped by five rest and recreation stops while travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Penang to enjoy various local cuisines.

In a past interview, Yam said he liked Penang so much and expressed interest to buy a holiday home for his family on the island.Yam also described Penang as a “beautiful and happy place”.
