Penang welfare and caring society committee chairman Phee Boon Poh confirmed that all schools on the island, as well as on the mainland, will be closed tomorrow and Friday.
“All 398 schools involving 239,839 students will be closed due to haze, ” he said.“With the present condition which is expected to worsen in the next few days, all outdoor events like World Clean Up Day during the weekend will be cancelled.“If there is a need to go out, please put on a proper mask, ” he said.
Phee also appealed that all construction and field workers are to be given proper heavy duty masks and other safety protections.On the island, the Air Pollutant Index readings hit 257 in Balik Pulau and 230 in Minden at 6pm.Stay tuned for a new offer coming to you soon.
