“We agree that the authorities should increase the procedures and penalities under Section 81 of the Road Transport Act 1987 so that stricter measures are applied to mat rempit and there should be specific laws on parents, guardians and spectators . Mohd Shuhaily was met after chairing the meeting which was also attended by representatives from the Road Transport Department, Department of Environment, Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, local authorities, Universiti Sains Malaysia , state Education Department and Department of Islamic Religious Affairs.
Amend the law to 1. Confiscate the bike and auction it off; 2. Mandatory jail time of 3 years; 3. Licence suspended for 3 years; 4. Motorbike owner fined and jailed 6 mths; and 5. Parents of underaged offenders fined and jailed 6 mths.
