Pengumuman itu dibuat Pengerusi Kumpulan TM, Rosli Man sebagai penyelesaian kepada gesaan Menteri Komunikasi dan Multimedia, Gobind Singh Deo yang meminta syarikat telekomunikasi itu menyelesaikan pelbagai aduan rakyat berhubung perkhidmatan Internet termasuk tidak menepati kelajuan memuaskan selain harga terlalu tinggi.
“Hari ini, kami mengumumkan pengimbangan semula tarif kepada pelanggan Streamyx yang selama ini setia dengan TM, jadi pengguna sedia ada akan menikmati pakej baru pada harga RM69 sebulan dengan data berkelajuan sehingga RM8Mbps. Program berkenaan dirasmikan Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Komunikasi, Multimedia dan Badan Bukan Kerajaan Perak, Hasnul Zulkarnain Abdul Munaim yang mewakili Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu dan turut dihadiri Gobind.
“Dijangkakan, sebanyak 70 peratus daripada kumpulan pelanggan ini akan dapat menikmati perkhidmatan berkenaan menjelang akhir tahun depan.
