PADANG BESAR: Polis berjaya merampas hampir satu tan metrik daun ketum yang cuba ‘dieksport’ ke negara jiran dan memberkas dua lelaki dalam serbuan berasingan di sini baru-baru ini.
“Anggota trafik berkenaan mengejar suspek kira-kira dua kilometer sebelum ditahan dan pemeriksaan lanjut menemukan 48 bungkusan plastik hitam dipercayai daun ketum dengan anggaran berat 480 kilogram bernilai RM4,800 yang diletakkan pada bahagian tempat duduk penumpang belakang yang dibuka kerusi. Katanya, penyeludup itu mendapat upah sebanyak RM250 daripada pembekal sebelum dipasarkan ke negara jiran melalui Wang Kelian di sini.
Menurut Mohd. Shokri, suspek merupakan warga tempatan berusia 59 tahun itu ditahan bersama 19 guni putih berisi daun dipercayai ketum dengan anggaran berat 500 kilogram bernilai RM5,000.
