Hadi continues to deliver sermon at Marang mosque despite ban

It was reported that Abdul Hadi delivered his weekly sermon at Masjid Rusila in Marang after handing over donations collected by Terengganu PAS for Turkey and Syria earthquake victims.

On March 3, the Terengganu Islamic and Malay Customs Council issued an order prohibiting religious lectures, talks and political activities by politicians in all mosques and surau statewide. It was said Terengganu’s Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin was upset with some politicians who had given lectures and religious teachings, and led Friday prayers without the council’s approval.

Hadi reportedly played down the matter, saying similar rulings were already in place since the 1960s and Maidam was merely repeating it.Meanwhile, state PAS commissioner Datuk Husain Awang advised party leaders to apply for permission from Maidam before conducting any religious sermon at mosques and surau.
