Govt waiting for nod from rulers on chief justice appointment, says PM

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad says once the government gets the royals' approval, it will name the new chief justice. – The Malaysian Insight pic by Seth Akmal, April 19, 2019.

THE government is waiting for approval from the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong and Conference of Rulers on the government’s choice for the new chief justice post, said Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad. “There is a provision for the appointment to be submitted to the Conference of Rulers and not just to the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong,” he said in Kuala Lumpur today.
