Govt to review management of GLC-owned malls to help Bumiputera businesses

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob says the government intends to look at how malls owned by government-linked companies allocate lots to Bumiputera traders as many are not able to afford or secure them. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, November 18, 2021.

THE government intends to review the management of shopping malls owned by government-linked companies to ensure that they are managed by local companies and that Bumiputera traders can conduct their businesses there. Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said this was because Bumiputera traders were unable to afford business spaces at the malls, even at GLC-owned malls, due to high rental rates and tough competition.
