The government is working to categorise which offences are liable for a RM10,000 and RM50,000 compound for violation of the movement control order, and a mechanism to reduce those fines.“We are still meeting and currently finalising the details and categories of offences that are subject to the RM10,000 and RM50,000 compounds under the Emergency Ordinance 2021 . This will clear any confusion over its implementation, ” said Takiyuddin.
Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob also stated in his MCO update yesterday that the committee would list out how district health officers could use their discretion to determine the amount offenders need to pay.“We will categorise the types of offences and an appeal to reduce can be made at the district health offices with proper reasons.
“The final decision lies with the Attorney General’s Chambers and comes under the scope of the Parliament and Law Minister, ” said a Health Ministry’s top official when contacted.
