Govt to amend Insolvency Act

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Azalina Othman Said says an engagement session with stakeholders to discuss the proposed amendments to the Insolvency Act will be held on February 7. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, February 3, 2023.

Another suggestion is to make improvements to the automatic discharge provisions under section 33C of the act so that bankrupt individuals can be discharged from bankruptcy in a shorter time. She said the government is also mulling the possibility of adding a category of cases that can be discharged through the insolvency director-general’s certificate of discharge without objection by creditors to bankrupt individuals aged 70 and above.
