Govt likely to revise national life insurance penetration target of 75%, says Guan Eng

Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng says pricing and affordability of policies were the main reasons for the low penetration of life insurance in Malaysia. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, September 10, 2019.

THE government is likely to revise the national target of a 75% life insurance penetration in 2020, as it is too big a gap from the current 55%, said Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng. If the 75% target was not achieved by next year, the government would carry out an assessment to look into the problems, he said.
