KUALA LUMPUR: The government has decided to cancel the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2021(Lima).

In a statement on Thursday , the Defence Ministry said the decision was made following a Cabinet meeting on July 8.

"The Defence Ministry and Transport Ministry, as the main organisers of the event, are also aware of the impact of the pandemic on health, as well as the social and economic aspects," the statement read. "It is also closely-related to the steps taken by other countries to close borders and ban overseas travel to reduce the risk of spreading the disease, which would make it difficult for the ministry to achieve target participation.
