Gilead donates entire supply of remdesivir

THE head of the maker of remdesivir, an antiviral shown to reduce recovery time in Covid-19 patients, yesterday said the company has been exporting the drug and is making it available to patients in the US through the government. Gilead Sciences CEO Daniel O’Day said the firm is donating its entire existing supply of the drug – 1.5 million vials, enough to treat between 100,000 and 200,000 patients.
