MELAKA: Cooperation with other parties will be decided by the coalition and not any individual should Barisan Nasional fail to obtain a simple majority after the 15th General Election (GE15) is concluded, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

“If no party has a simple majority, then there has to be cooperation across coalitions; otherwise it would be a hung Parliament,” said Ismail Sabri.“We still don’t know yet if any can achieve this ,” he said to reporters before visiting the Durian Tunggal night market on Wednesday .

On the possibility of Barisan Nasional working with Pakatan Harapan or Perikatan Nasional to form the government following GE15, the Umno vice-president said that it was up to Barisan.Asked whether Barisan's Alor Gajah candidate - Umno information chief Shahril Hamdan - would be a federal minister if Barisan won GE15, Ismail Sabri said it was still too early to tell.

“Wait until after the elections. We have to win first before we talk about who are ministers and deputy ministers,” he said.
