The meeting, led by Perikatan Nasional chairman and Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, began at 9pm Sunday .
According to a leader, the meeting was called to discuss the plan for Monday in line with the order from Istana Negara to send in statutory declarations to form the Federal Government and provide the name of the prime minister candidate. Istana Negara has given a 2pm deadline on Monday for all parties and MPs to send in their statutory declarations.The mood is still celebratory, one day after Perikatan managed to win the second most number of seats in the 15th General Election behind Pakatan Harapan.
Earlier Sunday , Muhyiddin issued a statement stating that he now had the support to form a government and be the next prime minister following GE15. This, he said, comes after support from Gabungan Parti Sarawak that is backing a coalition with Perikatan Nasional, Barisan Nasional and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah to form the new Federal Government.
