KUALA LUMPUR: The Barisan Nasional leadership must explain the losses suffered in the 15th General Election (GE15), says MCA spokesperson Chan Quin Er.

"Let us wait for the meeting on Sunday and I hope the can give good reasons," she told reporters when leaving Menara Dato' Onn at the World Trade Centre here.

She was asked if Barisan's poorer-than-expected performance in GE15 was due to internal bickering, disunity and the wrong strategies.She said they had merely gathered to tally the polls results announced by the Election Commission to see which seats were retained in the contest. Barisan's Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong retained his Ayer Hitam seat while Datuk Seri Dr Wee Jeck Seng defended Tanjung Piai.

In a statement earlier on Sunday morning, Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said Barisan will hold a supreme council meeting at WTC at 8pm. This follows an Umno political bureau meeting at noon and its supreme council meeting at 3pm at the same venue.
