Penang Fisheries Department director Noraisyah Abu Bakar said the suspects – three locals and 10 Thai nationals – were arrested at 1.20am Saturday in a joint operation by the Marine police and the Penang Fisheries Department."The fishermen were arrested and the case will be investigated under the Fisheries Act 1985.
"We have also seized the four trawlers which were valued at over RM2mil with 700kg of fish valued at RM3,500. In a separate operation at 10.30pm on Monday , Noraisyah said they also arrested two fishermen for using Apollo net trawlers and operating without a license. "We seized 40kg of fish valued at RM200 and the case will be investigated under the Fisheries Act 1985," she added.
