KUANTAN: Former Utusan Malaysia journalist Alang Ahmad died in hospital tonight where he was being treated for a gallstone problem and other complications.
His remains will be buried at the Kampung SC Muslim Cemetery at 10.30am tomorrow, his youngest daughter Annies Suraya said. She said Alang, 80, was admitted at the International Islamic University Malaysia Medical Centre on Feb 27 due to gallstones problem and other complications. Alang served as a journalist for 31 years before he retired in 1994. His last posting was bureau chief in Pahang.
Among the highlights of his career was an interviewed legendary anti-colonial fighter Mat Kilau, reputedly 128 years old, after the latter came out of hiding in Jerantut in 1969.Subscribe to our newsletter and get news delivered to your mailbox.
