KUALA LUMPUR, May 8 — Former Senator Datuk Muhammad Nur Manuty has been appointed chairman of the Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia effective today.
“As a scholar with extensive experience in the field of education, thought, philosophy, comparative religion and management, Muhammad Nur’s appointment as chairman will help boost Ikim’s excellence as a think tank and research institution that is respected in Malaysia and internationally. Muhammad Nur, 74, began his education at Kolej Islam Malaya in Klang, Selangor, before furthering his studies at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia from 1970 to 1974, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Islamic Studies .
