NSTnation: The 49-year old who revealed that it was Low, also known as Jho Low, who proposed that he ask for RM80,000 as starting salary, however defended his appointment when questioned in court.

On hindsight, he said that may have been exactly why he was chosen for the job by none than Low Taek Jho, who is widely believed to be the brains behind the 1MDB scandal.

Najib, 66, is facing four charges of having used his position to obtain gratification totalling RM2.3 billion in 1MDB funds and 21 counts of money laundering involving the same money. "I was called to the Istana ...I sat down and I was introduced to the Agong. There was no opportunity at all for me to say anything."
