PUTRAJAYA: The application for new foreign workers for barbershops, textile and goldsmith stores will begin on Oct 10, says Human Resources Minister V. Sivakumar.

This was after the Cabinet agreed on Sept 8 to reopen the intake of foreign workers for the three subsectors, with a quota of 7,500 workers.

“The applications will be open until the quota is fully filled, and then, we won’t accept any more applications,” he told a press conference here yesterday. He added that barbershops with three chairs must have two foreign workers and one local worker, as well as a Malaysian Skills Certificate.“We will make sure these applications will be approved as quickly as possible,” he added.
