Former national footballer V. Krishnasamy has passed away at the age of 72.

Krishnasamy, who was a member of the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, has passed away at the age of 72.The former Prisons Officer had diabetes and had been ill for a while. He even had his legs amputated two years ago.

On Friday, he was admitted at the Penang General Hospital, and had been seriously ill until his death on Sunday. Krishnasamy, who played for Penang, Perak and Prison Department, was called the ‘Iron Man’ during his heydays because he was always eager to get back in the game even after an injury. The midfielder was in the national football team at the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972, and again in 1974 when the team made it to the qualifying round in Seoul.Article type: metered
