Menteri Perdagangan Dalam Negeri dan Hal Ehwal Pengguna Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail berkata, cadangan itu akan dilaksanakan selepas kerajaan selesai melaksanakan program food bank terbabit di semua 20 universiti awam di negara ini hingga akhir tahun ini.
“Alhamdulillah, setakat ini program ini berjalan lancar dan ia bukan program bermusim tetapi berterusan. Kita akan teruskan ke institusi pengajian tinggi swasta, kolej komuniti, sekolah agama dan institut pendidikan guru kerana ini semua dalam pemantauan kita. Beliau berkata demikian selepas merasmikan penutupan majlis Perdana Gerakan Pengguna Siswa 2019 dan pelancaran Food Bank Siswa Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin di Kuala Nerus, hari ini.
Setakat ini, Food Bank Siswa sudah dilancarkan di beberapa UA iaitu Universiti Teknologi Mara Permatang Pauh, Pulau Pinang; Universiti Malaya dan Kampus Perubatan Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia , Kuala Lumpur; Universiti Putra Malaysia , Serdang, Selangor dan Universiti Teknologi Malaysia di Skudai, Johor.
