PETALING JAYA: Apart from food, beverages and medicine, there is an urgent need to supply mattresses and portable gas stoves to flood victims, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president said that the party’s Crisis Relief Squad had managed to order 600 sets of mini gas stoves that are much needed by flood victims in Bentong and Mentakab.

"The lorry carrying the gas stove is on its way to Bentong and Mentakab and is expected to arrive late this afternoon. "For the acquisition of mattress stock, it can only be supplied within seven days after the order is made. "CRSM is trying to get the supply of mattresses and will distribute to the flood victims as soon as possible after receiving the stock," he said in a statement after preparing food boxes to be distributed to flood victims in Selangor, Pahang and Negri Sembilan with CRSM volunteers at the MCA Headquarters on Saturday .

Dr Wee also thanked all the volunteers who worked day and night at the CRSM operations centre at the MCA headquarters as well as those who helped clean up houses in flood-hit areas and channelled food to the temporary evacuation centre .
