GEORGE TOWN: Several low-lying areas here have been flooded following non-stop rain since midnight on Thursday (Nov 12).

State welfare and environment committee chairman Phee Boon Poh said among the affected areas were Jalan P.Ramlee, Jalan Perak, Kampung Masjid,Kampung Makam and Kampung Masjid Hashim Yahya in Datuk Keramat.

Social media was abuzz with photos and videos of flash floods at the city centre creating panic among Malaysians.He said the situation will be monitored from time to time and so far, no temporary relief centre has been opened.
