As of noon Sunday, the number of evacuees had increased to 1,161 people from at least six districts - Kota Marudu, Kudat, Paitan, Beluran, Telupid and Sandakan.
According to the Kudat Fire and Rescue station, evacuations were being carried out but the full details were yet to be known due to a lack of telecommunication access at several areas. Firemen as well as other rescue workers are at Kg Timbangan Matunggong in Kudat carrying out rescue works.Scattered rainfall was also reported in Kota Belud, Tuaran and Telupid.
