FIVE Bharatanatyam dancers from the Sangeerthana Nadalaya Arts House underwent their Aranggetram (First Performance) as teacher Prema Selvam’s first graduating class, Malaysia Nanban reported.The school held its first Aranggetram for 10 students 25 years ago in Kota Baru, Kelantan.

After the first event was officiated by Datin Seri Indrani Samy Vellu more than two decades ago, the school has held countless Salanggai Pooja and Aranggetram.

The current batch of five students, including three from Tamil Nadu, underwent their Aranggetram at the Tan Sri Dato K.R. Soma Auditorium in Kuala Lumpur. Prema said the students had performed at temples festivals, opening ceremonies, government Deepavali functions, Christmas events and many others as part of their training with the school.

Nithiya Shri Saravanan, Parthavalli Saravanan, Saimapriya Nanthakumaran, Hema Ramesh and Darshika Ravhichandran performed for more than a hundred attendees during the Aranggetram. ● The above article is compiled from the vernacular newspapers .
