KOTA KINABALU: Firemen were called in to help doctors remove an iron rod that pierced through a young boy’s chest and neck after a fall in his village in Sabah's northern Kota Marudu.
The boy, who was walking with his mother near a school in Kampung Tandek at the time of the incident, was immediately rushed to Kota Marudu Hospital. Kota Marudu Fire and Rescue station chief Mohd Hasbi Hajat said Friday that a firemen team helped cut the iron rod, using special tools, under the watch of the medical team at the hospital on Thursday .The hospital made the call for assistance at about 6.30pm on Thursday and the team completed the removal of the iron rod by 7.10pm, he said.
