A day after media reported that National Film Development Corporation would suggest to the government to regulate Netflix, its CEO Ahmad Idham Ahmad Nadzri took to Twitter to explain his statement.
He tweeted that he was merely suggesting a collaboration between Finas and National Council of Women's Organisations to organise a forum or seminar to address the explicit content in the context of strengthening the digital content in the future. His suggested this at the 'Keluarga Sejahtera 2019' forum at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia yesterday.
"I said I took note of complaints by parents who raised the issue of uncensored content... Finas will find ways to strengthen local content so they will create a positive impact to the society and country," the tweets read.His statement yesterday calling for censorship on Netflix content has received backlash from netizens with many saying that there's no need for censorship as there's already a parental control setting within the application.
