SIS Forum is challenging the competency of the Selangor state assembly to pass a law allowing the state Syariah High Court to review fatwas.
Article 4 states that leave for such matters can be obtained from a single judge as long as the applicant can show the court that it is not frivolous. However, the applicant argued that any judicial review of a law passed by Parliament and state assemblies could only be heard before a civil High Court.
