NSTsports: Kazakhstan’s Andrey Chugay (1:01.639s) and China’s Liu Qi (1:01.914s) took gold and bronze respectively in Korea.

Fadhil showed that he was making progress when he clinched silver in the event at the Asian Track Cycling Championships in South Korea yesterday.

His time of one minute and 1.815 seconds at the Jincheon National Training Centre Velodrome erased his previous personal best of 1:01.889s, which he clocked en route to winning the 2017 Kuala Lumpur Sea Games gold. He is now in the right direction to surpass the 1:01.658s national record, set by Rizal at the 2009 World Championships in Poland.Fadhil dedicated the win to his late father Zonis Mokhtar who passed away in June due to illness.

‘I am so happy with this win despite losing out on the title by just a little bit,’ said Fadhil yesterday. ‘I have been working hard for this medal, and I finally managed to win it. I broke my personal best and was just fractions of a second from breaking the national record.In the women’s individual sprint, Fatehah Mustapa fell to Hong Kong's Lee Wai Sze in the quarterfinals.Azizulhasni Awang, who won silver in the keirin on Friday, will compete in the men's individual sprint today.
