Untuk memburukkan pergerakan pro-demokrasi Hong Kong.

Kedua-dua syarikat berkenaan mengumumkan telah menyekat hampir 1,000 akaun yang dikaitakn dengan kempen terbabit manakala Twitter turut menutup 200,000 akaun sebelum mereka menimbulkan sebarang kekacauan.

"Akaun-akaun ini sengaja dan secara khusus cuba menyebarkan percanggahan politik di Hong Kong, termasuklah melemahkan legitimasi dan kedudukan politik pergerakan protes," kata Twitter dalam satu kenyataan dikeluarkan. Menurut Facebook, beberapa hantaran di akaun-akaun yang disekat telah membanding penunjuk perasaan di Hong Kong dengan kumpulan pengganas Daesh, menggelarkan mereka 'lipas' dan mendakwa merancang pembunuhan menggunakan lastik. - AFP
