RETIRED plantation workers in Taiping held a peaceful demonstration after their former employers threw out their belongings and locked their homes, Malaysia Nanban reported.

Two were thrown out of their workers quarters on Sept 5 while former long-time worker S. Thannirmalai was thrown out in a similar manner on Sept 22.

Many of the workers have given 25 to 40 years of their lives to the plantation and have urged the government, political parties and NGOs to intervene to protect them.
