FORMER international Ong Ewe Hock believes that a coach could have made the difference for Lee Zii Jia in his match against Japan’s Kodai Naraoka in the first round of the Malaysian Open.

Independent shuttler and world No. 2 Zii Jia suffered a shock loss to world No. 7 Naraoka on Wednesday in what was his first tournament after deciding to part ways with his coach, Indonesian Indra Wijaya.

“Nowadays if you see, all the matches are becoming very close. The difference is often only two points,” said Ewe Hock.“Zii Jia needs to work on these two areas to stay at the top.’’ The 24-year-old had left the Badminton Association of Malaysia in February last year to turn professional.
