The Perak Mentri Besar said one of the biggest poultry manufacturers in the state has assured him that there is enough for the state."We have yet to reach that stage and I hope it will not come to this," he said in a press conference after attending the state Agriculture Development Corporation Hari Raya open house at the Treasure at Herb Garden here on Tuesday .It was reported that there is an outcry by consumers of a chicken shortage in the country.
The government has also banned the export of chickens starting June 1, while allowing import of the birds to ensure that there is sufficient supply in the market. On reports that wheat flour supply in the country can only last until July, Saarani said he urged the Federal Government to look for more sources.
He said the lack of wheat flour, being a widely used ingredient for food in Malaysia, would have an adverse impact on the people and food industry. "It is a global issue, not just in Perak. We also want to remind the people to use it sparingly," he said.
